Welcome to Car Hire Isle of Wight. These Terms of Service govern your use of our website and vehicle rental services. By using our services, you agree to the terms outlined herein.
Rental Agreement Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance details, charges, and your obligations regarding the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will take priority.
Eligibility Criteria
To rent a vehicle locally, you must:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire on the Isle of Wight, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type. A valid full driving licence, held for the minimum duration specified in the Rental Agreement, is required. Additionally, renters must provide identification and proof of address, along with payment details and a security deposit. Any further conditions will be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made through our website, via phone, or directly at our Isle of Wight location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is typically required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards through secure payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, a thorough inspection is required to identify any pre-existing damage, which must be reported immediately. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. It is important to return the vehicle in the same state as it was received, allowing only for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as at pickup; otherwise, refueling charges will apply. Late returns may incur extra fees, so please contact us if you foresee any delays. You will be held responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or additional charges incurred during the rental period, including an administration fee.
5. Insurance and Responsibility
- All car rentals include basic third-party insurance, with comprehensive details and excess amounts outlined in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to minimize your financial liability. You will be responsible for damages or losses up to the insurance excess amount, unless covered by additional insurance. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and modification terms depend on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For detailed information, please check your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges, which may impact your overall rental experience.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, off-roading, or any actions that may pose a risk. Transporting hazardous materials is strictly prohibited. Sub-letting or allowing unauthorized drivers is not permitted. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is forbidden. Adhere to passenger and weight limits, and do not operate the vehicle outside the agreed geographical boundaries without permission.

To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire assumes no responsibility for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business related to your use of our services. Our liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount paid for your rental in the last 12 months.
